LEGION XIII

Legion XIII is the team brand created for Jon Rahm as he joined the LIV Golf League. Further NY was brought in to name and build an identity that felt unmistakably Jon, drawing on his personality, passions and proud Basque heritage.
The name grew from Rahm’s interest in Roman history and the legendary Legio XIII Gemina. With his team becoming the thirteenth to join LIV, XIII created a fitting connection between the league and the legion.
Then came the lion. The emblem of the historic thirteenth legion was also a deeply personal symbol for Jon, a lifelong supporter of Athletic Club, known as Lehoiak, “The Lions.” Drawing from Basque visual culture, we constructed the lion using the geometry of the lauburu, pairing it with a modified type family inspired by traditional engraved lettering found throughout the region.
